For many members of diaspora, our current digital era is one of unprecedented capacity to connect with community across the globe, and to build on a strong history of diasporic collaboration and conversation.
In this episode, we are joined by writers and editors Ahmed Yussuf and Saaro Umar, and outgoing Managing Editor of pan-African writers’ collective Jalada, Moses Kilolo, to discuss all things diasporic publication.
Building on our joint anthology Jalada x DWF: Diaspora, we talk further about the ins and outs of forming and sustaining publications that span languages, cultures and distance, the influence of current digital media on our capacity to collaborate, and the importance of border-defying creative platforms for our communities.
